Passing our Faith on to the next generation is very important work. There is a constant need for instructors in Religious Education and Vacation Bible School
The ultimate objective of faith formation is discipleship. The parish facilitates the work of the spirit by helping the individual hear and respond to God’s loving call to a personal relationship, lived out in a faith community that witnesses to all in words and actions the Good News that is Jesus Christ. Advise the pastor in formulating policy in the area of faith formation or Total Catholic Education. Provide advice and assistance to the Principal of Bishop Hayes Catholic School and Director of Religious Education.
Participation in this ministry is a wonderful way to serve the Parish, its parents and its children. You can help shape the coming generations by instilling a deep sense of spiritual direction in their lives.
Members of the Commission for this ministry are appointed by the pastor. A commission member serves on an advisory board that encompasses Catholic education at BHCS and Catholic education in the Faith Formation/Religious Education Programs for the Muscatine Catholic community.
Members must attend Board of Education meetings and serve on a committee: Finance, Personnel, and Policy/Curriculum.
Special gifts or skills required for this commission include:
- A willingness to support Catholic Education in the Muscatine Catholic Community.
- Time to serve on the Board which meets monthly on the 3rd Monday of each month August through June. Each committee meets once (or more often depending on needs) between each of the Board meetings.
-Training: You would be required to attend Board of Education orientation annually in August.
-Commitment: Board Members are selected for 3 year terms. Non-Board of Education members may serve on the various committees-suggested terms of 1 to 2 years.
